Prof. Barrell has kindly accepted CUEWB's invitation to speak at its Internation Forum, Beijing on 8 December 2007.
Cambridge, UK - 8 Oct. 2007 - Cambridge University Education Without Borders (CUEWB), a non-profit student association committed to sharing educational resources worldwide and breaking the barrier between educational institutions and industrial organisations, is pleased to announce that Prof. Alan Barrell, holder of The Queen's Award for Enterprise Promotion, will join CUEWB's International Forum, Beijing on 8 December 2007 as a key speaker.
Prof. Barrell has spent 30 years in senior executive positions in technology based companies, including chief executive roles at Baxter Healthcare, Domino Printing Sciences and Willett International. Latterly he has spent time at various board positions in early stage companies including chairmanship of the Cambridge Gateway Fund, founder shareholder of Library House Ltd. He is Entrepreneur in Residence at the University of Cambridge Entrepreneurship Centre. His work in these areas recently led him to becoming one of the first recipients of the Queens Award for Enterprise Promotion. Most recently, he has been appointed as International Advisor to Youth Business China (YBC). Prof. Barrell is one of the most popular speakers in both Europe and Asia.
CUEWB's International Forum, Beijing is themed Success: Vision & Action. Open to 1,500 students selected from the top-10 universities in Beijing, the forum is aiming at providing the opportunity for students to hear speakers from outside who can give their view of China, and of what it takes for young Chinese people to succeed in today’s globalised world. In addition, CUEWB is also hoping to help promote educational and cultural exchange between China and the U.K.
With Prof. Barrell joining to speak at the International Forum, Beijing, CUEWB believes that the student audience will further benefit from the topics on how to transform their visions into actions and become successful.
