Success: Vision & Action

Cambridge University Education Without Borders (CUEWB) held International Forum, Shanghai (IFS) in collaboration with Cambridge University Chinese Cultural Society (CUCCS) on Saturday, 17 September 2011. Following the success of CUEWB’s “Success: Vision & Action” series of international forums in Beijing, Xiamen, Cambridge, and Hong Kong, the Shanghai forum provided an opportunity for 250 university students to hear three speakers who gave their view of China, and of what it takes for young Chinese people to succeed in today’s innovation-driven transformation and development of the Chinese economy in the globalised world.

The theme of the Forum was “Success” and consisted of two parts:

1. Vision: Creating a powerful vision is one of the most important aspects of success. In this part, our speakers will give the audience an overview of the current world economy, including its trend and opportunities for the students, from the speakers’ perspective. This part will encourage the students to develop their own vision for their future.
2. Action: A vision is only a dream unless it results in action. This part will encourage the students to think big, take active steps, and become successful.

Through the forum, we were also aiming to break down barriers between universities and the business world and promote the educational and cultural exchange between Shanghai and Cambridge.
