Let’s begin! It’s about exchanging ideas and knowledge about education across the world. The Beijing International Forum presented by Cambridge University Education Without Borders (CUEWB) is a great way in which this aim can be achieved. With the support of Nomura, Credit Suisse, and Marks & Clerk, international leaders in academia as well as business can share the same stage. With the one overarching aim of breaking down the barriers that exist between academia and industry, under the united theme of vision and success. Even though they speak from varying angles and concerning differing themes, taken together they provide the audience with the inspiration to seek the ability to achieve their aims.
The International Forum held at the National Library Hall, Beijing on the 8th December 2007, is therefore essential in equipping the 1,000 students that will attend with the drive and knowhow to succeed; sharing the experiences of our first class and truly international speakers. CUEWB believes that although fundamental, this forum only represents the start of its activities to promote these links. For example, CUEWB is currently also running a Winter Student Exchange Programme in Beijing, allowing 21 Cambridge University students to share their experiences and ideas with Chinese students. Of course, this transfer is by no means one-way. The experience of living, interacting and teaching with Chinese students is already having an important impact on the Cambridge students; it is certainly facilitating the exchange of ideas and knowledge, but also creating strong, long-lasting relations.
Ultimately, CUEWB believe that we are currently on a journey. But through schemes such as the International Forum, CUEWB can significantly shape the route.
