With the experience of organising Winter Student Exchange Programme 2007 (WSEP07), Cambridge University Education Without Borders (CUEWB) proudly presents Shanghai Summer Student Programme 2008 (SSSP08). We will be selecting 13 Cambridge students to teach in a GCSE-level summer camp at Cambridge International Centre of Shanghai Normal University (CICSNU) in Shanghai. The programme will run for 4 weeks from 27 July 2008 to 24 August 2008. Subject areas will include English, Mathematics, Business Economics, and Art/Drama. It will be a life enriching experience not to be missed.
The selected Cambridge students will be expected to teach 60 lessons (each lasting 40 minutes) with the support of local teaching staff over the course of the programme. In addition to teaching academic lessons, participants will be expected to assist and prepare extracurricular sessions in a range of areas, from European History, to University applications, through to internship advice, etc. Participants will also have the opportunity to prepare activities and talks around their own interests.
Participants on this programme will enjoy:
- Subsidised return airfare (50% of the cost will be borne by CUEWB)
- Coverage of accommodation and food expenses for the duration of the programme
- A 3000 RMB yuan completion bonus, awarded to those who have satisfactorily met their teaching obligations
Selected photographs of CICSNU and of Shanghai can be viewed in our SSSP08 gallery.
CUEWB held a squash on Tuesday, 4 March 2008 to go through SSSP08 in greater detail. Some of the Cambridge students who had participated in WSEP07 (view the gallery) had joined the squash to share their experience on their journey to Beijing last December. The presentation slides for the Squash can be downloaded here, which provide more information on SSSP08.
