CUEWB Committee Recruitment 2008

We had our first committee meeting of the year on 31 Oct. 2008 with Prof. Alan Barrell, our advisor. New committee members are working as part of the CUEWB team.

Cambridge University Education Without Borders (CUEWB) is a non-profit student Society of the University of Cambridge. It aims to share educational resources worldwide and break the barrier between educational institutions and industrial organisations. In the past year with the great effort by its committee, CUEWB has been promoting education exchange between China and the UK through its international forum and student exchange programmes. The feedbacks from the participating students in both countries were very positive and we are committed to organising more such projects in more countries in the future.

With its achievement and fast-paced development, CUEWB is now the headquarters of the non-profit Education Without Borders Organization (EWBO), which is a company limited by guarantee registered in the UK. CUEWB’s sister branch at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) is also at the final stage of setup. To ensure the rapid development of CUEWB and the success of its future projects, we need enthusiastic individuals to join us!

Additional Information
In addition to a number of local projects, we also have two international projects in mind,

1. International Forum, Xiamen: Success: Vision and Action #2
   This will have a similar format as International Forum, Beijing. For more details, please refer to http://www.cuewb.com/node/50.
2. Shanghai Summer Student Programme 2009
   This will have a similar format as Shanghai Summer Student Programme 2008. For more details, please refer to http://www.cuewb.com/node/206.

Available posts and descriptions:

1. President
   To oversee the entire society affairs and make sure certain tasks are completed in time. Report to board members of EWBO on a regular basis.
2. Secretary
   To be in charge of society administration, legal issues, coordination of committee meetings and taking minutes. Also to deal with members' general enquiries.
3. Publicity Officers (X2)
   To publicise society events, to liaise with other student societies in different countries, and to design publicity and marketing materials.
4. Sponsorship Officers (X2)
   To make sure that the society has enough funds to be sustainable.

Any current Cambridge student, graduate or undergraduate, is eligible to apply. Successful applicants will have strong leadership skills, be good team players, be committed, and be responsible!

• You can submit the Application Form for Committee Recruitment 2008 only once and you will NOT be able to update it after submission. However, you will be able to update your submitted CV at any time before the closing date.
• All application materials will be accessible only to the selection panel (EWBO board members and advisors) for this recruitment.
• Members who have signed up for this recruitment but not submitted application forms and CVs will NOT be considered for the selection.

We will be reviewing the applications and conducting interviews on a first come, first served basis and operating on a rolling recruitment system. Therefore, it is important that you complete the application early.

The selection process will involve the following:

1. 14 to 23 Oct. 2008: Application reviews by the selection panel.
2. 19 to 26 Oct. 2008: Candidate interviews by the selection panel.
3. 27 Oct. 2008: E-mail notification of successful candidates.
