We've successfully held International Forum, Beijing on 8 December 2007. View photographs and news articles.
With capacity for over 1,000 students selected from the top universities in Beijing, this forum will provide the opportunity for students to hear six world-class speakers who can give their view of China, and of what it takes for young Chinese people to succeed in today's globalised world. Furthermore, we are aiming to promote the educational and cultural exchange between China and the UK.

The theme of the forum is "SUCCESS" and consists of two parts:
1. Vision: Creating a powerful vision is one of the most important aspects of success. In this session, our speakers will give the students an overview of China, including its strengths, potential and opportunities, from the speakers' perspective. They will encourage the students to develop their own vision for their future.
2. Action: A vision is only a dream unless it results in action. This session will encourage students to think big, take active steps, and become successful.
Apart from the daylong forum, student representatives, the speakers, and the guests of the forum will be invited to partake in an evening of networking activities.
1. Prof. Alan Barrell FRSA (UK)
Prof. Barrell has spent 30 years in senior executive positions in technology-based companies, including chief executive roles at Baxter Healthcare, Domino Printing Sciences and Willett International. Latterly he has spent time at various board positions in early stage companies including chairmanship of the Cambridge Gateway Fund, founder shareholder of Library House Ltd. He is Entrepreneur in Residence at the University of Cambridge Entrepreneurship Centre. His work in these areas recently led him to becoming one of the first recipients of The Queen's Award for Enterprise Promotion. Most recently, he has been appointed as International Advisor to Youth Business China (YBC).
2. Prof. Qixiang Sun (China)
Prof. Sun is the Associate Dean of Peking University School of Economics, Director of China Insurance and Society Security Research Centre. She is the first Chinese C.V. Starr Chair Professor (US) and holds the title of Aviva Chair (UK). She has been considered one of the most popular speakers among Chinese students.
3. Mr. Koichi Ikegami (Japan)
Mr. Ikegami is currently the Managing Director of Nomura Group Headquarters Corporate Communications Department and Publicity Department. He joined Nomura Group, the largest investment bank and securities firm in Japan in 1979. Prior to his current responsibilities, he has held various positions within Nomura, including Managing Director of Investor Relations Department and Managing Director of Investment Banking Department. He is a regular speaker on issues relating to Asia's investment market and economy.
4. Ms. Myla Villanueva (Philippine)
Ms. Villanueva is the Co-Founder and Co-Chairman of MDI Group Holdings, a leading systems integrator representing Dell, Juniper, and Cisco and the Co-Founder and Partner of Novare Technologies. She is Member of Executive Management Committee (for Smart Communications), Director of Emerging Market Handset Development Fund, and the first Chairperson of Mobile Innovation Forum of GSM Association, London, representing 700 operators and 2.3 billion subscribers. She is also the Asia Pacific President of Global Telecom Women's Network. In 2004, Ms. Villanueva was named Woman Entrepreneur of the Year in the Entrepreneur of the Year program, conducted by Ernst and Young, Department of Trade and Industry, Philippine Stock Exchange, Bankers Association of the Philippines and the Philippine Securities Exchange Commission.
5. Mr. Yousuf Al Mulla (Emirate of Dubai, UAE)
Born and raised in the City of Golden Opportunities, Yousuf Al Mulla has been involved in many ventures, ranging from a sport management company to Real Estate Financing. However, in the last one year his focus has moved to the Public Sector. He graduated from Marshall School of Business, University of Southern California, with a degree in Corporate Finance. Yousuf is an Associate at the Executive Council of the Dubai Government, which is the Dubai's Ruler governmental office. The Council's main role is to act as the centre of Dubai's government and the Think-Tank of Innovation for Dubai. In addition, he is part of the USC and Marshall School of Business alumni network.
6. Mr. Rob Valli (USA)
Mr. Valli's professional background and experience dovetails business, higher education, leadership, and service. After two decades of successful investment banking, technology venturing, and entrepreneurial leadership, Mr. Valli joined the Institute for Manufacturing, University of Cambridge. Mr. Valli is President of the Investment Board of Parigi Equity Partners. He has served on the Alumni Board of Directors for The Stanford Graduate School of Business; the CAL, Berkeley, Executive Committee for the HAAS Arena; the Board of Advisors for the Office of Strategic Business Initiatives at the University of Illinois; the Board of Directors for the MIT/Stanford VentureLab; the Board of Advisors to Taiwan Venture Partners, D & B Venture and Satwik Ventures; as well as, holding a Board seat at AIESEC-US, the largest non-profit international student-run organisation in the world.

The student audience will be selected with the following criteria, listed in the order of descending priority:
1. Minimum level of English proficiency: CET Level 6 / IELTS 7.0 / TOEFL PBT-600, CBT-250, or iBT-105
2. Degree level: MBA/PhD/Master/Penultimate or final year undergraduate
3. Work/research experience
4. Leadership in student societies
5. Recognised professional qualifications

Please make sure that in your CV, you indicate your level of English proficiency and describe your work experience and extracurricular activities.
CUEWB will inform the selected students progressively on every Tuesday and Friday and issue unique invitation codes for registering at CUEWB.com. Once registered, the selected students will need to submit their English CVs online immediately in the required format at CUEWB.com. The CVs will be viewed by international employers who are seeking top candidates to work in Hong Kong, Tokyo, London, New York, etc. for both summer internships and full time positions in the areas of Sales & Trading, Investment Banking, Research, Asset Management and Corporate Finance in 2008. The experience of being one of the delegates to our forum will be recognised by the sponsoring companies of the forum, which will be beneficial to your job application to these companies. After submitting your CV online, the box offices in Beijing will be updated with your name, university, etc. which will entitle you to purchase the ticket.
