The Cambridge Entrepreneurship and Leadership Seminar (CELS), organised by Cambridge University Education Without Borders (CUEWB), aims to create a study and social platform for future business and finance leaders. Backed by rich entrepreneurial education resources at the University of Cambridge and the innovation cluster in the Cambridge area, CELS is designed for outstanding students from top universities in both the UK and abroad. CELS 2009 #1 (CELS09-1), the first in the CELS series, is targeted at top Chinese university students.

The University of Cambridge excels in high quality entrepreneurship and business education. It ranked the third in all entrepreneurial schools worldwide, after Stanford and MIT, as investigated by YouNoodle.com. Its MBA programme at the Judge Business School ranked 1st in UK by the Economist Intelligence Unit and 10th worldwide by the Financial Times Global MBA Rankings 2008. Silicon Fen, the local cluster of high-tech businesses, especially those related to software, electronics, and biotechnology, is now one of the most important technology centres in Europe.
We have invited Prof. Alan Barrell to be the Director of CELS09-1. Prof. Barrell has spent 30 years in senior executive positions in technology-based companies, including chief executive roles at Baxter Healthcare, Domino Printing Sciences and Willett International. He is Entrepreneur in Residence at the University of Cambridge Centre for Entrepreneurial Learning (CfEL) and one of the first recipients of The Queen's Award for Enterprise Promotion. The teaching staff members also include Dr. Charles Hampden-Turner, Dr. Peter Hornby, Prof. Terry Mughan, Dr. Robert Jones, Dr. Chris Lamaison, Mr. Jack Lang, and Dr. Stephen Lowery.
Apart from the lectures, we have also planned rich social programmes and trips, from which the students will gain a good understanding of British culture and history. On 9 February 2009, the participants will have dinner together with Sir Christopher Hum, former Her Majesty's Ambassador to the People's Republic of China. Mr. Stewart Ferguson from China-Britain Business Council will give a talk on China-UK Business Collaboration. Dr. Jochen Runde, Director of the MBA Programme at Judge Business School, will give an introduction of business MBA programmes. There will be group trips to London, Oxford, and Windsor during the weekends.
Our colleagues are graduate students from Peking University. They have rich experience in organising similar training programmes in New York, California, Hong Kong, and Australia. They have selected the students for CELS09-1 from top universities in China with strict selection criteria.
The CUEWB team would like to extend a big thank-you to all the friends that have helped organise CELS09-1. We believe that CELS09-1 will be a successful programme that benefits all the participants.
