Introduction
Cambridge University Education Without Borders (CUEWB) is a non-profit student Society, registered with the Societies' Syndicate of the University of Cambridge. It aims to share educational resources worldwide and break the barrier between educational institutions and industrial organisations. Participants on the CUEWB Shanghai Summer Student Programme 2009 (SSSP09) will be part of a team with other Cambridge students and will spend an unforgettable four weeks in Shanghai.
Application Criteria
Any current Cambridge student, graduate or undergraduate, is eligible to apply. Chinese language skills are not required. SSSP09 is a unique and committed programme, so we want unique and committed participants. Enthusiasm is the first thing we look for – we're looking for people who want to go to China, who want to learn about the culture, who want to teach, and who want to really get to know people instead of being a passive tourist. Successful applicants will have strong leadership skills, be good team players, be responsible, and be good at improvising in unusual situations!
Commitment
We expect a significant commitment from all participants. There will be compulsory teaching inductions in the Easter term for all participants. During the term, there will be two or three meetings to give participants the opportunity to work on curriculum design, share teaching ideas, and learn about teaching and travelling in China.
Application Process
We operate on a rolling recruitment system, and you are therefore advised to submit your application as soon as possible. Places on this programme are limited and are expected to be filled early. Applications should be submitted no later than 12 March 2009 via this online application form. Applicants who are successful at this stage will be invited to interview. Interviews will be conducted from the first week of March 2009. More information will be provided then. Please review the application procedure by visiting http://www.cuewb.com/node/957#application-procedure.
